Hiragana Tap Demo
Learn and practice recognizing Japanese characters (hiragana & katakana)
Hiragana Tap Fest is intended as an easily accessible and fun way to learn, recognize and practice the Japanese syllabaries : Hiragana and Katakana
Whether for work, school or just for fun
use your own competitive drive to help you improve your recognition of Japanese characters
With four major game modes including Endless, Endless Timed, Survival and Survival Timed, you can truly test your pattern recognition and knowledge of Japanese characters. Hiragana and Katakana are available for all game modes, and you can test your mettle on three difficulties - Easy, Medium or Hard. Learn as you play to find the combination that best suits your temperament
Endless - A character will appear onscreen, tap the answer of choice and you will be presented with the character's name and pronunciation. Use this mode to begin to recognize characters through pattern recognition and visualization.
Survival - A character will appear onscreen, tap the answer of choice and you will be awarded points for a correct answer, or have points deducted for a wrong answer. Consider your answer with care, as too many wrong answers will end the game!
Hiragana and katakana are both kana systems. With one or two minor exceptions, each sound in the Japanese language (strictly, each mora) is represented by one character (or one digraph) in each system. This may be either a vowel such as "a" (hiragana あ); a consonant followed by a vowel such as "ka" (か); or "n" (ん), a nasal sonorant which, depending on the context, sounds either like English m, n, or ng ([ŋ]), or like the nasal vowels of French. Because the characters of the kana do not represent single consonants (except in the case of ん "n"), the kana are referred to as syllabaries and not alphabets.
